ABOUT MATT
Matt Barker was born in
Middlesbrough, England, in the summer of 1980 - just a few months before
John Lennon was tragically assassinated in New York City. As a young
boy, Matt's parent's encouraged him to take an interest in music, and
he devoured recordings by The Beatles with fervour. After auditioning
as a singer for a rock band at the age of twelve, Matt found himself
on stage for the first time, and his passion for the performance side
of the musical arts grew to match his appreciation for the well-worn
records in his LP collection. As he has grown older, Matt has become
involved in several bands, covering old favourites as well as writing
and recording original material. His early exposure to Rock & Roll
remained a key influence, and John Lennon in particular became a huge
inspiration during these formative years. More recently, Matt's involvement
in the creation of the tribute show has grown organically from his role
playing the part of Lennon in various cover bands.
